There is an air of mystery shrouding the true meaning behind the acronym of M.A.N.D.Y., an alias which embodies the mutual talents of childhood friends Philipp Jung and Patrick Bodmer. The pair readily indulge this curiosity by toying with various clever possibilities, including Me AND You, but the truth is likely a giggle under each of their talented breaths. P and P have carved a unique niche in electronic music by consistently selecting productions that induce their audience into a somatic frenzy. On the platform of their aptly titled Get Physical label, M.A.N.D.Y. has achieved massive success in colluding to create music that simply makes bodies move. Their foot stamping, hair flying passion is the ultimate expression of a dance music phenomenon for many years.

When M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade joined as musical soul mates with DJ T., first in Frankfurt, then in Berlin, Get Physical produced a caliber of electricity that rippled throughout the EDM community and into the relative mainstream. Philipp’s charm and savvy, Patrick’s allusive artistry, DJ T.’s killer entrepreneurial sense and Booka Shade’s collaborative genius combined to form a masterpiece of intelligent design that reflects romantic sensibility and technical virtuosity. Together, they push the boundaries of dance music to compile an enviable arsenal of electro kissing house while caressing disco and flirting with techno. Body Language was the ubiquitous hit of 2005 and M.A.N.D.Y.’s Fabric Series three years later cemented their reputation as two of the most captivating selectors on the planet. Alongside many lives compadres Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y. has taken some time from their hectic global tour schedule to devise new elaborations, culminating in the release of Body Language Vol. 10 in April 2011. In addition to a single release that will be the first Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. cooperation to be heard in years, the boys have closed on a revolutionary touring show that utilizes infrared technology and a new mapping technique to project inverted video effects onto their Physical form as they perform. It is no doubt that their plans for this never before seen live visual component will conjure the kind of visceral excitement that only this duo can. In the feat of the imagination, M.A.N.D.Y. powers on through a perpetual rebirth into pulsating beats and pretty lights.

Audiofly are the duo of Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton. They met and started working together in the spring of 2002 and immediately started a prolific partnership based on their shared music styles and experiences on the DJ circuit.

Their combined talents have created a powerful, experimental and original style of music (a deadly, dirty, jackin, tech meets electronic house) which is very current on the underground club scene.

Although widely regarded as a member of the true A-list of dance music, both in terms of production, DJing and label management, it was a chance meeting led to Anthony Middleton and Luca Saporito, an audio engineer/musician and working dj respectively, becoming Audiofly back in 2002.

Middleton was, in typical boffin style, experimenting with live surroundsound while Saporito was acting as in-house music selector at prestigious London store Selfridges but the pair decided to down tools and throw everything at their shared love of house music. A bold move, but one which immediately began to pay off. The Audiofly name started to crop up regularly in the London scene and beyond via a series of edits, remixes and releases for underground imprints such as Fantastic House and Deleted. This initial hype led to Peace Division and DC10 resident Clive Henry to request an EP for the now legendary Low Pressings imprint. This EP, entitled “Release Yourself” caught many an ear and coupled with the DJs growing reputation as DJs, propelled Audiofly to a new level.

Fairly quickly the pair’s groovy, melodic and undulating take on house music started to create a huge fan base, both in the press (DJ Magazine featured the duo on a special covermount CD), in clubs (Space Ibiza residency) and finally in production, with uber-imprints Get Physical, Mood Music, Kickboxer and Renaissance calling on their talents.

Now, the duo are pushing their sound even further with a gig diary that takes in the likes of Fabric, Warung, Amnesia and countless other world
reknowned clubs as well as a forthcoming album in the works but they still finding time to develop other artists via their own Supernature imprint.

Only one year old, and Supernature has been a launch pad for artist such as Ali Nasser, Alex Niggeman, Bearweasel, Amelie and Boris Horel and commands the respect of labels ten times its age while their Flying Circus parties have become the highlights of both the WMC and Sonar festivals and their similarly named radio show for Proton Radio is a continued success.

All of this sounds a lot, but Luca and Anthony are veritable steam trains of ideas and projects. Luca’s unrivalled enthusiasm, Anthony’s ability to think outside the box and an envious amount of talent to draw on mean there’s a
lot more to come from Audiofly and their “Familia”.

Originally hatched in Montreal, but currently based in London, DJ’s Anstascia and Vivie-Ann have established their love child globally by proving that they don’t fit the quintessential stereotype. Few DJs have made such a dramatic impact on the underground house and techno scene over the last two years as Hot Creations label owner Jamie Jones. Jamie and his Hot Natured partner Lee Foss currently spearhead a whole family of like-minded producers that includes Robert James, Russ Yallop, Richy Ahmed and most recently Danny Daze who are currently re-writing the rulebook of how to make evocative and emotive house music.

Jamie Jones has achieved in the space of a few short years what many producers try for a lifetime. Turning his hand to a variety of styles while still maintaining a strong signature sound, Jones has created an admired musical identity and a loyal global following.

One of techno’s rising stars, Jamie Jones is part of a new guard of house and techno djs who resonate as artists, party people, djs, and live acts. Raised in Wales (which most people don’t hold against him), Jamie’s university days in London helped launch his infatuation with club culture that would bring him to Ibiza during the summers.

Ultimately relationships forged and those island summers helped him become an integral cog in thriving music scenes in Ibiza and later East London, where Jones’s bustling djscandance warehouse parties and regular gigs at Fabric helped him make his mark in London during his winters. During the summer, gigs and residencies like the Space Terrace, Manumission’s Music Box Room, and later DC10 (a club he frequented as a one of the first regulars in his early days on the island) helped him gain a foothold in the Ibiza Scene while defining a sound that was uniquely, electronic, soulful, and bouncy, with a consistent groove. During one of these summers in Ibiza, he played his creation Amazon, to Freak n’ Chic boss Dan Ghenacia who signed it on the spot.

Amazon, when released, was well received and immediately drew Jones favorable comparisons to luminaries like Mathew Jonson and Carl Craig and went on to become the labels biggest selling record. Jamie followed that standout release with recordings on leading labels like Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical, Cocoon, Poker Flat and far too many more to mention. Consistent to his production quality are low wobbly basslines, dissonant and hypnotic keyboard lines, crisp snares, and the aforementioned steady groove.

Since Then, Jamie’s relationship with Crosstown Rebels has grown. 2009 saw him release Summertime EP, which went on to become the labels biggest selling single. He also had the unprecedented accolade of having 3 tracks in the Beatport top 10 concurrently. His Debut album ‘don’t you remember the future’ also on Rebels has been hailed by Press and Dance Music critics across the globe as the best electronic album of the year.

In 2009 I released my debut Album “Dont you remember the future” which has been one of the biggest dance albums of the year.

Javier Logares has had rhythm flowing through him since his early teens. Coming from an instrumental background, hard work and sheer talent have seen him go from strength to strength in the 6 years he has been involved in electronic music. 2011 is no different, and sees Javier turn up the notch yet again.

Having joined the Get Physical stable in 2010, things have really kicked off, with a string of successful releases and remixes. Shortly after his debut release, “El Sueño Español”, the classy single quickly got picked up by various big names, including M.A.N.D.Y., Mr. C, Thomas Schumacher and has been featured on Dave Seaman’s “Global Underground: Lithuania” compilation.

With the release of Javiers latest EP on Get Physical, Silicon Drift, we see him pushing the boundaries of his sound even further, dabbling with a slightly darker, more techy sound, to awesome effect. Remixes come courtesy of two of the scene stalwarts, Roman Fluegel and Dapayk, making this release a must have for any dance music fan worth their salt.

More recently Javier has been on remix duty for Booka Shade’s “Scaramanga EP and Kid Bliss’ summer hit “Discoshit” both on Get Physical. He has also been causing a frenzy behind the decks, having been commissioned to mix the “Get Physical: Berlin Art Bridge” compilation featuring an exclusive track of his own – “Crossing Bones”. Javier’s “Proyecto Lazer” has been featured on Full Body Workout – Volume 7. Perpetual heady string samples plus unpredictable sounds from below carry the track aloft with a quirky combination of darkness and light.

Having lived in Berlin since 2007, Javier has been enjoying regular appearances at clubs like Bar25, Arena, Goldengate, MIKZ, Ballhaus Ost, Ritter Butzke and Villa. Javier has also started running some of his own parties, with residencies held a the highly talked-about “Limit 500” in Valencia, Spain, and “Ladies First”, closer to home in Berlin, where he has already played host to fellow label artist Siopis, along with a growing list of Berlins female DJ pioneers.

His last release on the Bar25 label , titled “Intringulis”, came out on the 15th of March 2010, with a great remix courtesy of Gavin Herlihy. His first 2 EPs “The Right Clue” (digital) and “Plastik Puppe” (vinyl) are currently available on the Bar25 record label. Javier has also done remixes and collaborations with notorious Berlin DJ “Jake the Rapper” amongst others.

Having built up a formidable reputation for himself during his teens as one of the most respected and popular drummers in the Asturias Region of Spain, his creativity saw him shifting out from behind the drums, and experimenting with composition on the piano and guitar. In 2002, Javier left Spain for London, UK.

Around 2004, at the behest of a few good friends, Javier went to his first techno parties. Instantly hooked on the creativity and intricacy of electronic music, he began experimenting with music production, finding ways to combine electronic and more conventional musical elements. This lead to Javier’s first steps into live electronic music performance, with a string of collaborations under the guise of Custom 11.

Having acquired a taste for live performance, and further refining his skills as an electronic producer, Javier started playing out at squat parties and underground raves in random venues like disused police stations and kindergartens. His Dj sets have always managed to create a sense of excitement. Early in 2007 Javier decided to move to Berlin to pursue his music career. During this time he was fortunate enough to rub shoulders with some of the pioneers in the scene, and got his first track released on the “Studio Stereo” Tss-001 compilation. Returning to London for the summer, 2008 saw him hold down his first residency at the notorious London after hours ’36 Kirton Gardens’, with regular guest slots for Vulgar Disco and Sub Prime Disco Crisis. Having enjoyed one of the most musically inspiring summers of his career, Javier returned to Germany to follow up on the connections he made the previous year. Javier’s rich instrumental roots are evident in his music. Constantly fusing rich melodies and intense bass lines with all the goodness of today’s minimal and tech-house elements, his productions are constantly exciting and invigorating to listen to.

After moving to Berlin in the mid 90’s, Michael Vater a.k.a Phonique was on the go like few others in Berlin. His successful parties and club nights got much love and paved him the way to become one of the nice guys in Berlin’s nightlife. First he only organized parties, after a while he started to DJ himself: “DJ Phonqiue” was born.

Since January ‘98, Phonique continued to bring previously lesser known DJs and producers to Berlin for his club nights and parties, presenting many strong nights with DJs like Glen Gunner (Street Corner Symphony/Block 16), Lil Tony (Nu Spirit Helsinki/Guidance), Alexkid (F-Com/Ovum), Llorca (F-Com/Brique Rouge), Joakim (Tigersushi) or Ivan Smagghe (Blackstrobe/Volga Select).

In the meantime, Phonique continued to develop his “freestyle” profile. His guests were treated to a splendid mix from Hip-Hop via Breakbeats to Old School and Drum‘n’Bass. Just about anything was possible in between, as long as the tracks had the necessary “type of groove”. He invited DJs like LTJ Bukem, Richard Dorfmeister and many more.

Traveling the world and playing clubs in Sao Paulo, Helsinki, Paris, London, Marseille, Vienna, Brussels, San Francisco, Prague, Tel Aviv, just to name a few destinations, Phonique never forgot his Berlin base. Just like his residencies at Tresor and Pfefferbank (among others), where he brought his ‘Club Paris’ evening to life, with guests like Pepe Bradock, DJ Deep, Jori Hulkkonen and I:Cube.

From time to time Phonique, together with his partner Kiki, presented their QuadroPhoniquekikz’ on four turntables, eventually releasing their first ‘QuadroPhoniquekikz’ mix-CD in 2002 on Komfort Musik.

His first two 12″ were released on Martin Landsky’s Intim Recordings, and from then on Phonique released on labels like Komfort Musik (Berlin), Seasons (USA), Brique Rouge (Paris) and Crosstown Rebels (London), but mainly on Steve Bug’s own Poker Flat and Dessous.

His first remix (for Doctorolive) was released on French label Bazoline. After remixes for Frankman (Draft/Fm), Soulcamp (Soulcamp), Le Tone (Naive), Funky Transport (Brique Rouge), Tonic Agents (Highgrade), Detroit Grand Pubahs (Poker Flat) and Erlend Oye (!K7) he even remixed Germany’s pop phenomena “Rosenstolz”.

Besides Phonique’s remixing talents and DJing with vinyl and CDs, he also started to edit tracks so they made more sense for his DJ-sets. When Jazzanova found out about this, they asked him to do some for their own use. So Phonique worked out some edits, partly with his buddy Dixon. Edits for Georg Levin and DJ Spinna, remixes for Georg Levin and Sirius Mo even got released on Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv label.

2004 then was a very successful year for Phonique.

His second 12″ on Dessous “The Red Dress” climbed on top of the official German Club Charts (DCC), “The Red Dress” became one of the hottest tracks being played by almost every key DJ in Europe. He worked on Erlend Oye’s incredibly successful DJ-Kicks (!K7) in technicals, mixing and consulting and actually played several tour dates with Erlend all across Europe.

In Autumn 2004 then his debut album “Identification” for Dessous was released, featuring collaborations with Paris The Black Fu, Erlend Oye, Alexander East (Minneapolis), Ian Whitelaw (Glasgow) and Dixon (Sonar Kollektiv). With amazing international feedback, even a number one chart entry on Itunes’ dance download charts it turned out to be Phonique’s breakthrough success.

Massive Video play on German MTV’s renowned “Spin” and on Viva Plus of “For The Time Being” with Erlend Oye took his popularity to another level. The 12″ release “99 & a half” feat. Alexander East featured one of the best I:Cube remixes in recent days and went to become a club hit immediately. The album track “You, That I’m With” feat. Ian Whitelaw was licensed to South Africa even pre-release, where Ian Whitelaw’s last track (with Alexkid ) had also been the club hit of 2003/4.

Also the single “For The Time Being” with remixes by Alexkid and Motorcity Soul received massive positive feedback, followed by a remix by Sasse (Moodmusic), even leading to a future collaboration with Rodney Hunter (G-Stone) as they found out that their creativity combined would go beyond the framework of a remix and demanded proper recognition, as on a track for the next album.

Even for Sven Väth “Identification” was a highlight, thus he asked Phonique for an exclusive track for “Cocoon Compilation E”.

With the closing of Tresor in 2005 Phonique lost one of his favorite residencies, playing the Bonito House Club once a month. Since his very first Tresor Wednesday night gig of February ‘99, he was fired up about the 600-1400 people crowd that would not stop dancing up until late Thursday morning….

Since Berlin’s nightlife is subject to rapid change, Phonique’s residences change alike. Currently you can meet him mainly at Weekend, F.U.N. Crew’s incredible venue with a view over all of downtown Berlin at Alexanderplatz. Their second compilation on Fine/ Four Music will be supported by Phonique’s track ‘’Bee”. Even though release is not expected before early 2006, the track already gets massive support by colleagues like Trevor Jackson (Output) and M.A.N.D.Y (Get Physical).

Recently Phonique asserted his recognition as one of the high profile remixing artists in the dance world, letting Morcheeba’s former vocalist benefit from his talents on a remix of her upcoming solo project “Skye” (Atlantic/ Warner).

Phonique mostly works with Alex Krüger (Dub Taylor / Korsakow / Tigerskin) for his productions/remixes, but from time to time he is cooperating with other artists or musicians like Steve Bug, David Duriez & Phil Weeks, Martin Landsky or Meitz.

Already being recognized internationally as one of the leading forces behind deep and forward thinking club music and commercial productions alike, this one will take it to the next level.

2010 has certainly been the year that 23 year old Maya Jane Coles announced herself as one of the most talented up and coming artists in electronic music.

In the years preceding a steady output of techy cuts on labels such as Dogmatik and 1trax simmered away catching the attention of cluded up heads and savy A&R people alike. It was her debut EP on Franck Roger’s Real Tone though that ignited the fire of hype and boosted her profile on the global stage receiving heavy support from the house & techno elite. Aside from being hammered repeatedly on the worlds most happening dance floors ‘What They Say’ reached the number 1 spot on across the board; Beatport Deep House Chart No. 1, Tarxsource top download & Resident Advisors most charted tracks for October. It’s safe to say the release won the hearts and heads of fans and critics a like and a landmark year was topped off with a nomination for Best Breakthrough Producer nomination in the DJ Mag Best of British awards.

Not one to fall victim to the pitfalls of being one of the scenes ‘buzz names’, Maya has built on her flourishing reputation with a slew of gigs across Europe holding her own alongside world renounced DJs. So much so her schedule for 2011 is already jam packed with dates across Europe; London’s Fabric, Batofar, Watergate, not to mention iconic Glastonbury Festival, just a few of the destinations.

Maya’s productions take’s influence from a diverse range of musical styles and British – Japanese heritage. Her talents are by no means confided to realms of house and techno. Under the guise of her live dub/electronica outfit, ‘She Is Danger (alongside the multi-instrumentalist/singer Lena Cullen) she has remixed the likes of Massive Attack and Gorillaz and fans of her Dubstep Product under the name Noctural Sunshine include key tastemakers, Joy Orbison and Sucba to name a few.

As well as her trademark bass heavy approach Maya’s diversity as a producer also shines through in productions under her own name as well. Climbing high in Beatport’s ‘Chillout’ top 100 tracks from her stunning ‘Humming Bird’ EP on Hypercolour showcase her blissful vocals and ability to create songs and not just music for the dance floor. Forthcoming EPs on Anja Schneider’s Mobilee Records and for a number highly anticipated exclusives will no doubt elevate her status even further.

A bright talent with more than a couple of strings to her bow Maya Jane Coles is only just getting started.

In the decade that has passed since Lee Burridge discovered acid house music, raided the local record shops of Bournemouth and took to the decks, his illustrious DJ career has spanned at least three continents and seen him work alongside some of the England’s most revered DJ’s.

In 1991 the South Coast scene was no match for Lee’s dexterous talents and Hong Kong beckoned with the promise of a residency that would put Hong Kong on the clubbing map. Six years later, the undisputed King of the colony was guesting at most of the big club tour parties in Hong Kong, including Cream, Ministry, Malibu Stacey and Northern Exposure.

In 1993 Lee turned his attentions to the now legendary full moon parties at Ko Pha Ngan, Thailand, with his residency at the back-yard club providing an inspirational alternative to the more standard nights around.

Future projects already promise to launch Lee into the DJing stratosphere and confirm his position as a face to watch on the scene. His residencies at Tyrant, both at The Bomb and Fabric, Golden and Cream continues to provide clubbers with the slick, hard, deep house, trancey, breakbeat sounds they have come to expect from him and his guest appearances at Gatecrasher, Sugarshack, United, Rhumba and Kelly’s Port Rush have introduced his style to club goers all over the country. Last year Lee broadened his DJ diary horizons to take in Thailand, Ireland, South America, Ibiza, Israel and Hong Kong where international club goers have voted with their feet for Lee’s driving progressive style. 2000 will see him play in Greece, Ibiza, the States, Brazil and undertake an Asian tour.

In 1999 Lee honed his studio techniques with the release of his mix CD ‘Metropolis’ (released on Tide), which received the Compilation of The Month thumbs up in Muzik. Future projects in the pipeline include collaborations with Breeder and Hybrid, a break beat track with Andy Page (who previously collaborated with Sasha), and various other remix projects including work for several other labels.

With 1999 already a distant memory, the accolades Lee received – a new entry @ no. 33 in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJ Poll, Muzik’s DJ Of The Month and Mixmag’s Best Up and Coming DJ, are the perfect platform to consolidate his rise in 2000 with the launch of his monthly Tyrant night with Craig Richards at Fabric and the launch of the Tyrant Compilation series on Distinctive Breaks which will showcase Lee and Craig Richards legendary DJ sets as previously seen at Space in Ibiza and The Bonaparte at the last two Notting Hill Carnivals.

The Tyrant series is set to kick off in May with a series of parties stretching the breadth of the country surrounding the launch dates.
